Well, the Tiger Woods story may have run its course on the LexBlog Network. I'm not absolutely sure this will be the last highlighted Tiger post, but I'll try. As mentioned earlier in the week, Facebook has changed their privacy settings; once again, the social network has people concerned. Just today, I had to go through all my photo albums and set it so only friends can view them. I'm sure not to post anything on the site that casts myself in a negative light, but even so, it threw me off when Facebook changed their settings without my approval. In today's world, it's almost impossible to completely disconnect from work. Many companies' employees operate on laptops, which can be taken home at night. And even when those aren't open, employees can still be reached at any hour via smartphone. Today, Tom Crane raises the interesting question of whether or not employees should be compensated when they are required to check their work email outside of office hours. Well, we have a new record for blog posts in a day since we started counting: 152. Very impressive. One of my favorite parts of doing these posts is highlighting some of the newer bloggers who have hit the ground running. Staci Riordan of the Fashion Law Blog definitely falls into this category. Without any experience, she dove into the realm of social media and the Fox Rothschild publication she authors is off to a great start because of it.

New blogs joining LexBlog Network for the week of 12/7-12/11

We have five launches in total this week with four really joining the LexBlog Network (you'll see). The legal publications launching this week should be great resources. For example, LoTempio Law Blog has a very comprehensive library of patent, copyright and trademark terms. AmLaw 200 firm McGuireWoods launches their first LexBlog publication while Harvey Law firm in New Mexico and Illinois attorney Shahzad Khan do the same.

Class Action Countermeasures is authored by Virginia lawyer Andrew Trask of McGuireWoods LLP. He has participated in the defense of more than 100 class actions, involving all stages of the litigation process. The blog provides commentary on the strategic considerations involved in class action defense.
Illinois Family Law Advocate is updated by Peoria attorney Shahzad R. Khan. The blog is aimed at being both a resource on and forum for news and information pertaining specifically to issues affecting Illinois families and about Illinois family law.
Albuquerque-based Harvey Law Firm and its four lawyers publish New Mexico Nursing Home Advocate News. Topics covered on their blog include choosing a nursing home, nursing home contracts, patient care and patient rights.
Buffalo lawyer Vincent LoTempio launched his LoTempio Law Blog on patent, trademark and copyright law. As mentioned before, the blog has an extensive library on associated terms. I do not normally do this, but since its launch in late September Brian Galbraith's Ontario Family Law Blog has been phenomenal. The blog is written in a personable manner with great content directed at families seeking guidance. Today, he has advice on one's first holiday season after a divorce or separation. Even if you aren't recently divorced or a family law lawyer, it's worth it for any blogging lawyer to take a look at the type of content he's writing and how it is presented.

Whenever I get an ATM receipt, I tear it up and throw it in the nearest garbage can. On the off chance someone were actually scouring garbage cans for receipts, and provided they had any potentially harmful information on them, my tactic would probably have little effect. In the business world, the equivalent for some companies is to ship sensitive documents to third-party vendors who shred them. As Nick Beermann notes, their tactics may be just as useless because of what these companies are doing with the shredded remains.

Another firm continuing to grow its blogging presence, AmLaw 200 firm Jackson Lewis launches its sixth publication with the Global Immigration Blog. The goal of the blog is to educate readers on immigration laws. It will cover issues, history and policies affecting immigration both in the United States and worldwide.
Alabama Litigation Review is published by Hunstville attorney Jeff Blackwell of Hornsby, Watson, Hornsby, Blackwell & McKown. The firm's trial team specializes in representing Plaintiffs in cases of significant injuries or damages throughout Alabama.

These include H1N1, OSHA, EFCA, relevant litigation, collective bargaining and leaves of absence.
Keep Your Own Home is authored by New York attorney Richard Rubin of Rubin & Licatesi. The blog provides valuable information for people who are losing their home through no fault of their own.
The Heart of Engagement is published by Mike Cook of AMJ Group. He specializes in organizational development issues. With the blog, Mike aims to provide insight on working environments designed to support business strategy.

One of my favorite blogs on the network, the New Media Law Blog is one of three Proskauer Rose blogs to get a new look. It is published by Jeff Neuburger and Daryn Grossman.
Proskauer Rose's Privacy Law Blog is published by several of their attorneys within their Privacy & Data Security practice group. They are leaders in this developing area, advising clients on all aspects of compliance, ranging from U.S. federal and state laws to international laws.
One more blog getting a sharp new redesign: Food Poisoning Law Blog. The blog is authored by national food safety lawyer Fred Pritzker. The blog has insightful and pertinent information on food safety outbreaks and relevant litigation.
