The second that Joseph Biden and Sarah Palin stepped from around their podiums and shook hands you could almost hear the clicking on the keyboards as bloggers around the country began writing their reactions. While some were expecting either a Biden explosion (didn’t happen) or a Palin implosion (see: Biden; explosion), most simply wanted to enjoy the debate. So, without further adieu, here are the opinions about the debate from our mavericks around the blogosphere.
- “According to both the NYT and the WSJ, Sarah Palin was “folksy” last night. (Seriously, the adjective — meaning familiar in manner or style — appears in the lead of both news accounts.) And while Palin did throw off a few heck-of-a-lots, the media seems to agree that she held her own and that Joe Biden did a good job of remaining composed and avoiding direct attacks.” – from Palin and Biden Spar, But (Mostly) Leave the Law Aside, at WSJ.com Law Blog
- “First let me say that I don’t like Sarah Palin’s politics and I do not believe that she is qualified to be either Vice President or President of the United States. But inspiration can come from strange places and politicians teach us so much about how to advance our own careers.” – from Getting Back in the Saddle, at Counsel to Counsel
- “I attended the coolest, most entertaining VP debate party last night with 500 other people at Traverse City’s amazing State Theater. Note the sub-title of the big event! For those inside watching the debate, it was all of the above, Comedy, Drama and Horror all wrapped up in a fun filled evening with Michael Moore.” – from Sarah Palin vs. Joe Biden: Comedy! Drama! Horror!, at The Greatest American Lawyer
- “There hasn’t been much time for coffee musings what with the tracking poll (and the ex-pats waiting for the results over lunch) and all the other election news to post, but let me squeeze in a short observation or two.” – from Musings Over Morning Coffee, at Daily Kos
- “According to most media accounts, last night’s vice presidential debate was a thriller. Sarah Palin received much of the focus due to her lackluster performances in recent television interviews. But I stated in a blog post prior to the debate that pundits should not dismiss Palin, because many of her failings of late could result from her lacking the experience engaging the national media.” – from CNN and CBS Release Highly Misleading Polls Regarding VP Debate, at Dissenting Justice
