The Buzz in the LexBlogosphere

Oscar Grant, a 22-year-old passenger on a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) train, was shot and killed on New Year’s Day by a police officer who was attempting to “subdue” him. Many eyewitnesses claim that the shooting was tantamount to an execution, and last night riots broke out on the streets of Oakland in support of the deceased Oscar Grant. A video of the incident, caught on a cell-phone camera, has been making its rounds through the internet and mainstream media, and the police officer involved, Johannes Mehserle, resigned yesterday.
